2024 is booked and, as soon as I finish this blog, the details will be loaded. Loaded is a very apt word as this year that is just what we have done.
In 2018, when we set off on our adventures at the barn, we had a wonderful puppeteer/storyteller, who knew his way around established festivals, affectionately nick name us Randomfest and secretly, since then we have kind of tried to live up to that. We are like kids in a sweet shop, we can find what we like and still fill up our bags with treats to make sure there is enough to share and suit everyone. It’s a lucky dip in the end but we hope you will come to see something you have always enjoyed and leave having discovered something new to love. We bring the very best of touring theatre and seasoned performers and artists who have earned their place on major stages and line them up beside local heroes and talented amateurs. In common, they all have a passion for what they do and an open willingness to share it without the barriers or back stages. We see many faces return to the festival fold and every year add a few more friends.
Over the next few short weeks, we will tell anyone who cares to follow about some of the people that make our Great Barn Festival just that. For all the beauty of our surroundings and the privilege of being in such an atmospheric monument, at it’s core, it is the dedication and hard work, generosity of spirit, the willingness to roll up sleeves despite our many seemingly beguiling flaws, the funny, talented and huge hearted unlikely friends we make along the way slumming it on our dirt floor stage to sorting out the recycling that define the Great in the Barn. Welcome one and all, we have packed the old gal to the rafters, let’s make our time together count!
it’s ALWAYSa fabulous festival!
